How to add a stainless steel plate to guide the paper past a worn paper guide.
I was recently given a HP Envy 100 printer that was getting a paper jam every time I printed.
The printer had a usage count of 7450 pages. There was wear on a plastic guide that was causing the paper to crease or buckle and catch. In the photos you can see that there is wear around the two holes in the middle of the guide. I originally put a piece of sellotape across the holes and that stopped the jam. I then made a permanent fix using a piece of stainless steel plate. The plate just clips over the holes. The stainless steel is cut from a old dishwasher inner case.
The edges of the stainless steel plate are smoothed off by hand with a old
circular grinding stone.
The worn
plastic guide just clips into place. Open the printer lid and you can
unclip it and lift it out.
