The burner assembly can be slid out of the boiler after you have loosened the two screws.

I would think that it would be very dangerous to operate it once it has been removed so make sure the power is unplugged before doing this otherwise you could end up with a face full of burning fuel or worse (not nice).

While it is out you have a opportunity to clean out the boiler.
